The first night and day in Vienna. We used airbnb for the first time. Can I say I WILL DEFINITELY DO IT AGAIN. This is the best way to travel. Our 3 bedroom apt., in the center of Old City cost 120 euro a night. Compare that with the 1 room Park Hyatt NEXT DOOR.
The Christmas markets are in full swing right now. A great place to eat and drink and get a feel of the city. St Stephan cathedral a short 5 min. walk away. Awe inspiring.
The next morning we went on to the Albertina museum. Highly recommend this. Picasso, Monet et. al. Eat a light lunch at one of the nearby cafe with an Aperol and save many euro. we went on to the Capuchin church to visit the crypt and see the burial tombs of the Hapsburg Royal Family.
From there we went on to the Hofburg Palace. there is so much to see and do, it will take 2 days if you plan it out. The first visit was the silver collection , Sissi museum and Royal Apartments.
I totally recommend the Vienna pass complimented with a public transport pass. you can buy them both on line. They will save you money and time. Vienna pass holders go straight to the front of the line or just walk in. The transport pass opens up all kinds of public transport. It will save you lots of money and time. Buy on-line and have it ready to go.
